There used to be 3000 of these graceful old ladies plying on the River Thames and Medway and around the coast of this country. Now there are only about 20 in existence that have been restored and preserved and are still sailing.
This is a great chance to follow them racing under sail in the old traditional way. The match starts below Gravesend and, weather permitting, heads out to Herne Bay and back. It is a great day out for photographers and those interested in seeing how these majestic vessels operate at close quarters.
